The Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards<\/a>, or commonly known as Eisner Awards concluded on Friday, on July 23, 2021.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Let us give you a brief introduction of the most prestigious award ceremony for the comic industry. This, in most of times is seen equivalent to equally prestigious Academy Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The award is named after the legendary artist and writer Will Eisner<\/a>. He was an American cartoonist, writer and entrepreneur. Being one of the earliest cartoonist in the American comic industry, the man was legendary and his legacy lives through his comic works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was the 33’rd award ceremony which was sponsored by ComiXology<\/a> and were presented via a virtual ceremony as a part of the campaign, Comic-Con@Home<\/a> on Friday 23, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The top winner of the evening was Gene Luen Yang,<\/strong> with three awards: Best Publication for Kids and Best Adaptation from Another Medium for Superman Smashes the Klan<\/strong> (published by DC, with art by Gurihiru<\/strong>) and Best Publication for Teens for Dragon Hoops<\/strong> (his graphic novel published by First Second\/Macmillan). The publisher that can boast the most winners is DC,<\/strong> with the two each for Superman Smashes the Klan<\/strong> and Superman\u2019s Pal Jimmy Olsen<\/strong> and a shared win for Best Writer, James Tynion IV<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If we look a little back to the year 2019, the winners list included The Vision<\/strong> from 2019, Black Panther: World Of Wakanda<\/strong> from 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best Publication for Kids (ages 9-12)<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Superman Smashes the Klan, <\/em>by Gene Luen Yang and Gurihiru (DC)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best Humor Publication<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen, <\/em>by Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber (DC)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best Adaptation from Another Medium<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Superman Smashes the Klan, <\/em>adapted by Gene Luen Yang and Gurihiru (DC)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
