This, in most of times is seen equivalent to equally prestigious <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Academy_Awards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Academy Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The award is named after the legendary artist and writer <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Will_Eisner\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Will Eisner<\/a>. He was an American cartoonist, writer and entrepreneur. Being one of the earliest cartoonist in the American comic industry, the man was legendary and his legacy lives through his comic works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was the 33&#8217;rd award ceremony which was sponsored by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.comixology.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ComiXology<\/a> and were presented via a virtual ceremony as a part of the campaign, <a href=\"https:\/\/comic-con.org\/cci\/2021\/athome\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Comic-Con@Home<\/a> on Friday 23, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The top winner of the evening was <strong>Gene Luen Yang,<\/strong> with three awards: Best Publication for Kids and Best Adaptation from Another Medium for <strong>Superman Smashes the Klan<\/strong> (published by DC, with art by <strong>Gurihiru<\/strong>) and Best Publication for Teens for <strong>Dragon Hoops<\/strong> (his graphic novel published by First Second\/Macmillan). The publisher that can boast the most winners is <strong>DC,<\/strong> with the two each for <strong>Superman Smashes the Klan<\/strong> and <strong>Superman\u2019s Pal Jimmy Olsen<\/strong> and a shared win for Best Writer<strong>, James Tynion IV<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If we look a little back to the year 2019, the winners list included <strong>The Vision<\/strong> from 2019, <strong>Black Panther: World Of Wakanda<\/strong> from 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are just leaving a list of names here, quite familiar to help you understand a comic&#8217;s journey through the industry:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6>Best Limited Series<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Superman&#8217;s Pal Jimmy Olsen,<\/em> by Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber (DC)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6>Best New Series<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Black Widow<\/em>, by Kelly Thompson and Elena Casagrande (Marvel)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6>Best Publication for Kids (ages 9-12)<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Superman Smashes the Klan, <\/em>by Gene Luen Yang and Gurihiru (DC)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6>Best Humor Publication<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Superman&#8217;s Pal Jimmy Olsen, <\/em>by Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber (DC)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6>Best Adaptation from Another Medium<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Superman Smashes the Klan, <\/em>adapted by Gene Luen Yang and Gurihiru (DC)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of our Indian artists, Anand RK, who is a resident of Mumbai also featured in the nominations and succeeded in bagging an award for <strong>Best Painter\/Multimedia Artist<\/strong>.
