The Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards, or commonly known as Eisner Awards concluded on Friday, on July 23, 2021.

Let us give you a brief introduction of the most prestigious award ceremony for the comic industry. This, in most of times is seen equivalent to equally prestigious Academy Awards.

The award is named after the legendary artist and writer Will Eisner. He was an American cartoonist, writer and entrepreneur. Being one of the earliest cartoonist in the American comic industry, the man was legendary and his legacy lives through his comic works.

This was the 33’rd award ceremony which was sponsored by ComiXology and were presented via a virtual ceremony as a part of the campaign, Comic-Con@Home on Friday 23, 2021.

The top winner of the evening was Gene Luen Yang, with three awards: Best Publication for Kids and Best Adaptation from Another Medium for Superman Smashes the Klan (published by DC, with art by Gurihiru) and Best Publication for Teens for Dragon Hoops (his graphic novel published by First Second/Macmillan). The publisher that can boast the most winners is DC, with the two each for Superman Smashes the Klan and Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen and a shared win for Best Writer, James Tynion IV.

If we look a little back to the year 2019, the winners list included The Vision from 2019, Black Panther: World Of Wakanda from 2018.
