From the makers of Malayalam film industry comes an amazing superhero movie titled Minnal Murali which has been released on OTT platform Netflix and just touches the audience in right manner.
Till now, Bollywood had struggled delivering a quality superhero movie. Movies like Krrish & Ra One tried their bit but were unable to amuse the critical audience and that didn’t fare well to motivate more people to make superhero movies in India.
But here we are as Basil Joseph was able to cook the right recipe and starring Guru Somasundaram & Tovino Thomas as the lead made it a perfect blend to entertain the audience as well as critics with the whole show.
The movies has been applauded also for the fact that it sports a strong villain unlike most superhero movies which come up with a strong hero but poorly written villain including Marvel. So far Marvel has 7 strong villains which it has used perfectly in their form of entertainment.
The movie was first presented in Mumbai Film festival on 16th December, 2021 while it was released on Netflix on 24th December, 2021.
We also need to appreciate the fact that the makers did this superb job with a very limited budget. The budget of Minnal Murali is only Rs 18 crore while the average budget of a superhero Marvel movie is at least 40x more.
The movie writers Arun Anirudhan & Justin Mathew along with director Basil have tried to keep the story real just like any other Malayalam movie. They have managed to keep all superhero elements in line that all the explanations seem sensible in the movie.
Some people have also drawn a comparison between Minnal Murali and Mr India saying that its Mr India starring Anil Kapoor which is the first ever good Indian superhero movie. We are not here to debate on this as Mr India remains a classic movies of its time as well. Both of them have shown originality and didn’t try to copy any of the western theme.
The movie has smashed couple of records on streaming platform Netflix with one of them being the first Malayalam movie to be trending in the platform’s Top 10 List worldwide. So go ahead and watch it if you haven’t and let us know your views on the same.
