After the thrilling weekend of the Australian GP, came the Formula 1 Imola GP, the first home race for Ferrari in the 2022 season, so much heritage and the people, their culture, and the passion for speed they share, all make Imola a much-awaited race event on the Formula 1 calendar.

Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, or as we better know because of its geography, Imola, is in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. It would be a crime to not mention Ferrari being the favourites of course because of their Italian roots. The circuit is named after the late founder of Ferrari, Enzo Ferrari who pioneered Ferrari to reach the poise and the passion that people share, that they have today.

The home race for Ferrari at Imola, which could have seen them take the 1-2 on the podium, turned around absolutely sad with Charles spinning on turn 14 after he bounced his Ferrari over the chicane and was lucky enough to recover but lose a position to Lando Norris to P4 as Lando positioned his McLaren to P3 and more importantly, on the podium. Charles had to pit for a new set of tires and a new front wing, after which he came out of the pitlane on P9. In the remaining 11 laps of the race, he pushed his Ferrari and finished P6 but lost 7 precious points to his title rival Max Verstappen who finished P1 and took the top step on the podium for Red Bull after his race debacle in Australia. Sergio “Checo” Perez came home to take P2 and gave Red Bull their first 1-2 finish at Imola GP, after Malaysia 2016, where Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen came home to take 1-2 finish for Red Bull, in that order.

The events from the Sunday’s race at Imola which happened to be, April 24, 2022, happened to be the most disheartening evening for Lewis Hamilton as he managed to finish only P13. Lewis’s Mercedes did not just have the pace to charge the grid for positions like W13 did last year. Still, memories from Lewis’s charge in Brasil 2021, are carved very clearly into the memories of the fans when he ploughed through the field to take P5 in the sprint.

George on the other hand gained valuable points for himself and the team by driving cautiously well and finishing P4 after that fantastically controlled drive. With the only driver scoring points for Mercedes at the particular weekend, they have now moved down to P3 in the Constructor’s Championship table. The top 10 point scorers at the Imola GP are:

For round 5, Formula 1 is going to Miami for the first time in the United States of America. Miami GP is having a ten-year contract with FIA Formula 1 which means that it will be on the racing calendar for 10 years from 2022. It will be one of the fastest street circuits where F1 cars would fly past down the main, back street straight! That would be thrilling to watch and the speeds that these cars would be carrying in the 3-point DRS detention zone would be boosting the adrenaline of the drivers as well as the fans watching from nearest and far off locations.

Keeping you hooked on to the edge of your seats, we shall come back with more in this series after Sunday’s Miami Grand Prix. And here is the time schedule for Sunday’s race as per different time zones.
